My Summer Saree- Love For Linens

My love affair with sarees started in the last 2 to 3 years. My mother was a teacher and I would always admire her when she wore sarees to work. I loved draping her sarees during my playtime and be a pretend teacher in my childhood.

But as an adult, I never draped a saree for any social gathering or event. Some years back I tried wearing a saree for some wedding and totally fell in love with the 6yards. I felt graceful and feminine draping a beautiful saree.

‘Summer and saree are not meant to be together’. I was reluctant to drape a saree at 40℃.

But this linen beauty changed my mind. I had gone shopping when I was in Mumbai visiting my mom. We went to a store called Bagh. They had an amazing collection of sarees, kurtis, kurtas, linen pants, dresses, etc. Mom and I headed straight to the saree section, I spotted this gorgeous linen saree.

It was love at first sight. Haha!!

Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant. Linen is laborious to manufacture, but the fiber is very strong, absorbent and dries faster than cotton,  which makes it perfect for hot summer days.

I would describe the color of the saree to be pinkish purple with turquoise blue stripes in the pallu. I am not gonna lie actually, the pink pom poms made me buy this saree 😉 I think that these small colorful pom poms and tassels are clothing industries secret weapon. Haha!! The saree is super light in weight and easy to drape.

I have paired this saree with a ready-made purple blouse which is super comfy for hot summer days. A turquoise necklace which I bought from the Paramparik Karighar exhibition in Mumbai and antique silver payals bought from the Goa night market, completes my look.

I would conclude by saying ladies lets rock in linen!!!
